Declutter and teenagers…

Who would have thought that the decluttering craze would be the talk of 2019 – perhaps the alternative (Brexit) has been exhausted! 

Letting go of clutter isn’t easy, but the Japanese guru of decluttering, Marie Kondo, is inspiring legions to catagorize, organise and join her minimalist approach. There are times when I would love my wardrobe to look as appealing and happy as the photo evidence posted by her followers, but there is a part of me that is concerned that if I realistically remove all the clothes that no longer fit me, the cupboard will be bare!! And thats a whole other New Years resolution that I have yet to apply myself to.

There is an argument to be had about enjoying the random items that adorn your shelves and tables, giving character and warmth to your home, but I can’t deny that a good sort through brings an element of calmness. It’s rather like making the bed and opening the curtains first thing. Now if I could only impart some calm wisdom to the teenagers…
