The head of school for a start. Lisa Kerr joined Watson’s in September 2024 from Gordonstoun School. I’m not sure you could have chosen two more contrasting schools within Scotland! The new wing of the Junior School finally had its Covid delayed opening in 2020, brand new strength and conditioning room in Sports block and planning has gone in for 2 more Astro pitches.
Academics
George Watson’s are known for academic excellence, but are keen to impress the importance of getting the best out of each individual child being a non-selective school. Each child is assessed when they join, to see where they are and what gaps there may be. They are known for their strong SEND department, and try to support and educate all the children that join. With over 200 children in each year group they are able to offer a huge array of subjects.
Sports, creative arts,events
Very strong on rugby, with links to Watsonians Rugby Club, but many sports from curling to fencing are covered – girls cricket is particularly popular. There are over 20 choirs, major theatre productions, orchestras and recitals, along with other societies. There are major all year group camps in the last 4 years of primary and S1&3. CCF has returned after popular demand.
